On April 20th, Carolyn Ou, a Brown alumna, organized Brown's first session in its High School Success Workshop Series IXL (I Excel). The topic was Creating an Amazing Life, featuring renowned motivational gurus Jeff and Val Gee of McNeil & Johnson. Brown plans to have several other sessions in this High School Success Workshop Series to inspire Columbia Explorers Academy 7th and 8th grade students to step outside their everyday boundaries and set amazing goals for high school and their careers. Future workshops will cover such skills as "Making it happen," and "Being great with people even when they don't deserve it and you don't feel like it!" and other skills needed to achieve success.
The presentation starts out by focusing on the reasons students should care about their higher education
CEA students listen to Jeff's advice and catch endless laughs from his light humor
Jeff uses brain surgeon Alfredo Quinones' story about turning the little he had into everything
Alan Leo, a Brown volunteer, attended CEA to participate in Principal for a Day (PFAD) on October 30th. To learn more about PFAD and how your can participate visit the PFAD website.
