Using School Resources

Here are suggestions on how to utilize a school's existing resources effectively:

  • Piggyback on pre-existent, already-structured programs (e.g. tutoring or a Career Fair).

  • Use the CPS calendar to help plan your events.

  • Involve the alumni board in the partnership.

  • Use the enthusiasm and expertise of school staff to create successful events.

  • Develop events based on needs and wants of school as well as alumni interests and skills.

  • If applicable, determine the number of CPS students (either generally or from just your partner school) who attended your college/ university

  • Involve the school community in alumni volunteer activities

  • Introduce yourself and the partnership to the Local School Council. (Learn more about Local School Councils)

  • Meet for lunch with school and alumni each summer to discuss plan for next school year
