Using School Resources
Here are suggestions on how to utilize a school's existing resources effectively:
- Piggyback on pre-existent, already-structured programs (e.g. tutoring or a Career Fair).
- Use the CPS calendar
to help plan your events.
- Involve the alumni board in the partnership.
- Use the enthusiasm and expertise of school staff to create successful
events.
- Develop events based on needs and wants of school as well as alumni interests and skills.
- If applicable, determine the number of CPS students (either generally or from just your partner school) who attended your college/ university
- Involve the school community in alumni volunteer activities
- Introduce yourself and the partnership to the Local School Council. (Learn
more about Local School Councils)
- Meet for lunch with school and alumni each summer to discuss plan for next school year
